Our Focus
One of key aspects of any lawyer’s career is the continuing need to keep up to date with legal developments and strengthen skills to develop their career. Whether it is a law student who wants to qualify as a solicitor or an associate solicitor seeking to apply for partnership, the HLA is committed to helping meet your career goals. We host various seminars and events to provide a source of self-development.
We also provide an arena of learning about the Hindu Dharma for individuals and professional organisations. In particular, the HLA is a representative body on the Ethnic Minority Lawyers’ Division and is invited by professional bodies to engage in diversity forums.
Adopting a ‘work hard and play hard culture’ is often ingrained into the very fabric of being a member of the legal profession. As an organisation, the HLA appreciate that it is not all about ‘what’ you know but sometimes ‘who’ you know that distinguishes the outstanding lawyer from onlinedivorcecalifornia.com. It is for this reason our social activities form a vital role to the development and progression of our members.
As a committee we aim to organise a diverse array of social events ranging from lectures, lunches and workshops. Keeping in line with the principles of Hindu Dharma, we encourage all of our events to be free of meat and alcohol but guarantee members will leave feeling inspired, refreshed and considerably more connected with their colleagues. We very much look forward to welcoming you to our future events.
The Community
The HLA established a Pro Bono Unit in February 2012 to assist community groups to access legal advice and increase awareness of various laws which are of relevance to their administration. Our aim is to ensure that Hindu communities have a point of contact in respect of legal questions which may arise and promote access to justice in general.
Our first pro bono project was the legal guide project called the HLA Guide for the Community. The booklet has been compiled with a view to providing general guidance on the establishment and running of such organisations and their premises.
In addition, our annual pro bono conference welcome committee members and trustees of community centre to gain a greater insight into key legal issues of concern to them as well as provide a forum of discussion between organisations to share their experiences.
We consider it our civic duty as lawyers to assist and promote access to legal justice for the Hindu community.
